Year 11 Module Selection Information

All Year 11 students study these compulsory curriculum areas:

  • English
  • Mathematics

Students accepted as part of the Health Science Academy must study at least two Science modules per trimester. Students seeking an exemption from this need to consult with Whaea Losa before making their selections. They must select the Science modules in Line 1 and the Tongan/Science module in Line 4. This document outlines the requirements.

Students are free to select which context they study these core curricula. The modules have been designed to meet the needs of students by providing a wide variety of courses and contexts available for selection. As students enter their first year of NCEA, they must choose their courses wisely.

You should select your modules carefully, as these give you essential skills for your journey through NCEA. Choosing modules in contexts you would like to continue studying as you progress through school is wise.

If you wish to gain endorsement in traditional subject areas, then it is important to select at least 1 module per trimester in that subject i.e if you would like a History endorsement, then select one History module in Trimester 1, Trimester 2 and Trimester 3.  Module and Level 1 National Certificate of Educational Achievement (NCEA) endorsements are also possible.
