Module selection for students entering Year 9
← HomeYear 9 Module Selection Information |
All Year 9 students study these compulsory curricula:
- English or Bilingual Literacy
- Mathematics
- Science
- Social Studies
- Physical Education and Health
- Te Reo Māori (One Trimester)
Students are free to select what context they study these core curricula are studied in. These contexts include bilingual contexts.
Ākonga select at least one module per trimester which covers the five key curriculum areas, plus at least one module in the year, which includes Te Reo Māori.
You should select your modules to give yourself a broad range of curriculum experience. Try to challenge your learning by selecting modules in areas you have not experienced before. Year 9 is a time to try out all that the school has to offer so you can start to think about what your journey through NCEA may look like in the future.
If you have opted into 1 of our 3 bilingual pathways, a minimum of 3 bilingual modules should be selected each trimester. You must take the bilingual Literacy and Numeracy modules as well as one other bilingual module.
The following table shows the curriculum areas in each line of our timetable.
