Courses Description

Head of Pathway: Mr G. Van den Hoeven.

We will talk about coastal processes and coastal flooding and evaluate different perspectives about flooding in Auckland (e.g. Muriwai) and how best to deal with this.

Perspectives could be:

    -Climate change is inevitable and we can only do our best to respond

    -It’s the government’s responsibility

    -The homeowners chose to buy there, it’s their responsibility

Solutions could be:

    -Engineering: Hard and Soft

    -Government buying out those houses prone to floods

    -Do nothing

Tourism Unpacked - Geography

This leads to Trimester 2 and 3 Geography. Students who take and pass Geography in all 3 trimesters can reach the 14 credit minimum to get a subject endorsement in Geography for University entrance.

Potential careers: planning, resource management, infrastructure project development, engineer, architect, etc.

All Junior Bilingual students must select the literacy and numeracy modules in the language of their pathway each trimester and one other integrated language module  (3 out of 4 of their modules must be bilingual).

All senior Bilingual students must take all modules available in the language of their pathway.
