Courses Description

Head of Pathway:

Making Chemical Use Sustainable to the Environment

Summer Activites

How many of you go to the beach? Who spends Christmas having a rollicking picnic? Who loves to swim? In summer? All year round? Surely you would like to swim in the lovely, cool, clean and refreshing waters of NZ’s oceans? However, human activities have already affected the land, air and sea environments of the Earth. Nature’s recipe book is there for us to choose what substances we use for daily use. Do you want to help find solutions for issues that the world currently experiences (climate change, global warning, greenhouse effect, ocean acidification, pollution).

If so, come along to this course, and get a feel of what your contribution could be to saving our environment from ruin.

Recommendations:

  1. Knowledge of Level 2 Chemistry (Chemistry 2.6/AS91166 Chemical Reactivity & Chemistry 2.4)

  2. Choose the 13 Chemistry module in Trimester 2 as well, called Chemical Fingerprinting
