Courses Description

Head of Pathway: Mrs K. Lousi.

This module provides students opportunities for learning to construct and identify main aspects of Samoa and importance of Samoa to Samoans in New Zealand. In addition, they learn to use some simple Samoan phrases in their Talanoaga. Class discussions, demonstrations and sharing activities enable students to discover how to present using their own words about the importance of Samoa. Students will explore the advantages, disadvantages and also recognise some key components of Samoan landscape during this unit.  Students will also learn a brief history of Samoa. Where and when the missionaries arrived in Samoa until the raising of the flag in 1962.

Once a student makes their selections and confirms these, any changes must be accompanied by a letter of support from Whanau and are subject to available spaces in courses. 

All Junior Bilingual students must select the literacy and numeracy modules in the language of their pathway each trimester and one other integrated language module  (3 out of 4 of their modules must be bilingual).

All senior Bilingual students must take all modules available in the language of their pathway.
