Courses Description

Head of Pathway: Ms A. Hinson.

OVERVIEW:

  • Friday 10am - 3.30pm
  • NZ School of Food and Wine
  • Up to 25 L3 US credits

This practical introduction to the hospitality industry takes place in commercial kitchens.

Students will gain experience and knowledge in both front and back of house roles. Topics rotate over two years and include: barista skills, cafe and restaurant cooking, host responsibility and food safety.

PATHWAYS

  • Certificates and diplomas in culinary arts, food and beverage service.
  • Apprenticeships in the hospitality industry.
  • If combined with 3 or 4 university approved subjects in year 13, students could choose to pursue university degrees in culinary arts or hospitality management.

All Junior Bilingual students must select the literacy and numeracy modules in the language of their pathway each trimester and one other integrated language module  (3 out of 4 of their modules must be bilingual).
All senior Bilingual students must take all modules available in the language of their pathway.
