“E au le ina’ilau a tama’ita’i”

Women can achieve anything with their determination and enthusiasm.

This saying is adapted from an old Samoan saying “e au le inailau a tamaitai" which comes from a story about a group of women who finished thatching the roof of a fale before the men. It speaks to the strong work ethic of women and determination to achieve what they set out to do. It's one of my favourite Samoan proverbs and is often quoted to celebrate women's achievements.

The implications of this proverb are that women will turn their hands successfully to any task that must be done and will work hard until the task is completed.

You can turn your hands in becoming a taupou-Learning how to siva like a tuapou/ or palu the ava-for the ceremony.

We can also learn how to weave simple items. Significant learning of interwoven knowledge in language and culture.

Pathway

Taualuga - Samoan

This must be taken with Trimester 3 Samoan. Students who take and pass Samoan in all 3 trimesters can reach the 14-credit minimum to get a subject endorsement in Samaoan for University entrance. These students will also have the option of sitting Samoan scholarship.

Once a student makes their selections and confirms these, any changes must be accompanied by a letter of support from Whanau and are subject to available spaces in courses. 

All Junior Bilingual students must select the literacy and numeracy modules in the language of their pathway each trimester and one other integrated language module  (3 out of 4 of their modules must be bilingual).

All senior Bilingual students must take all modules available in the language of their pathway.
