She Speaks Volumes: Unleash Your Voice in Print

Calling all aspiring writers and creative minds!

This exciting project-based English course empowers you to create a collaborative magazine, "She Speaks Volumes."

What will you gain?

  • Master diverse writing styles: hone your skills in crafting editorials, features, interviews, poetry, reviews, and creative fiction.
  • Develop a strong thematic voice: explore themes relevant to young women like you, amplifying your voices and perspectives.
  • Become a design whiz: learn design principles to create a visually stunning magazine layout.
  • Collaborate with confidence: work effectively in a team, fostering communication and teamwork skills.

Assessment & Credits:

This course aligns perfectly with the NCEA English 2.4 assessment, "Produce a selection of crafted and controlled writing." You'll be assessed on your writing skills, design contribution, and teamwork, all culminating in a final project presentation and an individual reflection paper.

This course offers 6 credits. 

6 UE Literacy Writing Credits.

Once a student makes their selections and confirms these, any changes must be accompanied by a letter of support from Whanau and are subject to available spaces in courses. 

All Junior Bilingual students must select the literacy and numeracy modules in the language of their pathway each trimester and one other integrated language module  (3 out of 4 of their modules must be bilingual).

All senior Bilingual students must take all modules available in the language of their pathway.
