Te Kete Tikanga - Maori Bilingual and Literacy

Courses Description

Te Kete Tikanga is all about filling your kete/basket of knowledge and understanding, with tikanga Māori.

Whether your goal is to pronounce Māori words correctly, to introduce yourself in te reo Māori, or do karanga on the marae, this is the module for you. We will focus on the tikanga of our whare, tikanga of our kura, and the tikanga that are important to you.

This module is compulsory for all Maori Bilingual Students

Pathway

This module leads into any contexts related to Te Reo Māori/Te Ao Māori.
The continuation of language/Te Reo Māori Bilingual learning is encouraged, if you wish to advance your Reo.

All Junior Bilingual students must select the literacy and numeracy modules in the language of their pathway each trimester and one other integrated language module  (3 out of 4 of their modules must be bilingual).

All senior Bilingual students must take all modules available in the language of their pathway.
