Tala o le Vavau - Samoan Bilingual and Literacy

Courses Description

Head of Pathway: Mrs K. Lousi.

In this module, the students will view, read, listen, present, and write about Samoan mythologies and legends. The rich stories from the past, known as Tala o le Vavau, play a significant role and meaning to Samoan people and their cultural aspects of living. The students will discover and research how these myths and legends are still relevant to contemporary Samoan culture, and how it impacts the way Samoan people view the world.

This module is compulsory for all Samoan Bilingual Students

Course context or content may change by the start of the year.

Once a student makes their selections and confirms these, any changes must be accompanied by a letter of support from Whanau and are subject to available spaces in courses. 

All Junior Bilingual students must select the literacy and numeracy modules in the language of their pathway each trimester and one other integrated language module  (3 out of 4 of their modules must be bilingual).

All senior Bilingual students must take all modules available in the language of their pathway.
