Aganu'u Fa'asamoa - Samoan Bilingual and Literacy

Courses Description

Head of Pathway: Mrs K. Lousi.

This module provides students an opportunity for learning to construct and identify main aspects of Samoan culture/aganu’u. In addition, they learn to use some simple Samoan proverbs and also demonstrate in the class for their practical or performance for their assessment. Class discussions, demonstrations and sharing activities enable students to discover how to perform a practical assessment for level 1 in cultural participation. Students will explore the advantages, disadvantages and also recognise some key components of Samoan aganu’u during this unit.

Once a student makes their selections and confirms these, any changes must be accompanied by a letter of support from Whanau and are subject to available spaces in courses. 

All Junior Bilingual students must select the literacy and numeracy modules in the language of their pathway each trimester and one other integrated language module  (3 out of 4 of their modules must be bilingual).

All senior Bilingual students must take all modules available in the language of their pathway.
