Native Plants - English and Science

Would you survive if you were lost in the bush of Aotearoa? In this course learn all about NZ native plants AND join River and Huia on an adventure of misfortune as they try to survive being lost in the New Zealand wilderness. 


What will you learn?

In this module you will learn about ecosystems, and how individual parts of the environment work together to survive and thrive. You will also learn how to write creatively and speak confidently. 


In this course you will…

Read the novel “Cuz”, design an animal to fit into an environment, grow mushrooms, make a medical remedy from natural products, write a story, and maybe even visit the zoo! You will even do a speech trying to convince us to film a nature documentary on your ecological niche!

You like nature, animals, medicine, science, reading, writing, and David Attenborough documentaries!

Once a student makes their selections and confirms these, any changes must be accompanied by a letter of support from Whanau and are subject to available spaces in courses. 

All Junior Bilingual students must select the literacy and numeracy modules in the language of their pathway each trimester and one other integrated language module  (3 out of 4 of their modules must be bilingual).

All senior Bilingual students must take all modules available in the language of their pathway.
