Courses Description

With great power comes great responsibility! In this combined English and Social Studies module, as a guardian of te Whenua, you will learn about the responsibility we all have to protect and sustain the natural world for present and future generations.
You will read captivating stories and texts in literature which inspire and empower environmental action. Through a variety of texts, you will explore how writers weave narratives of responsibility, connection to the Whenua (land), and the importance of indigenous knowledge.
You will enjoy this course if you want to be a literary guardian yourself and develop a deeper understanding of our connection to our natural world through discussions, debates and story-telling, then join our Kaitiaki (Guardian) Team and make a difference!

Once a student makes their selections and confirms these, any changes must be accompanied by a letter of support from Whanau and are subject to available spaces in courses.
All Junior Bilingual students must select the literacy and numeracy modules in the language of their pathway each trimester and one other integrated language module (3 out of 4 of their modules must be bilingual).
All senior Bilingual students must take all modules available in the language of their pathway.
