Pāngarau Tuatahi - Mathematics and Maori
This is Pangarau part one: Get ready to see maths through a new and inspiring lens!
You're about to embark on a journey where maths meets the rich traditions and stories of Māori culture. In Year 9 and 10, you'll explore how mathematical concepts, patterns, and symmetry are woven into the very fabric of Māori time, location, Maramataka and navigation.
Discover how the ancestors used stars to navigate the vast Pacific Ocean, and how their understanding of patterns and proportions helped create intricate designs that tell powerful stories. This isn't just maths—it's a connection to the past and a way to see how numbers and shapes have always been part of the Māori world.

Once a student makes their selections and confirms these, any changes must be accompanied by a letter of support from Whanau and are subject to available spaces in courses.
All Junior Bilingual students must select the literacy and numeracy modules in the language of their pathway each trimester and one other integrated language module (3 out of 4 of their modules must be bilingual).
All senior Bilingual students must take all modules available in the language of their pathway.
