This class is all about unwrapping the magic of Christmas, Samoan style and English style. We'll dive into the traditions, tastes, decorations, and tunes that make this season sparkle.
From exploring Christmas dramas to writing and reading letters about this festive season. We will also rock out to Christmas carols in both Samoan and English! You'll be a Christmas pro in no time!
So, grab your favorite colorful ie lavalava (Samoan sarong) and a festive sweater, and let's make some unforgettable memories together.
Course Objectives:
- Develop students’ bilingualism and biliteracy in Samoan and English.
- Explore the historical and cultural significance of Christmas in both Samoan and Western societies.
- Compare and contrast Christmas traditions, customs, and values across cultures.
- Foster intercultural understanding and respect.
- Develop critical thinking and communication skills through various creative and expressive activities.

Once a student makes their selections and confirms these, any changes must be accompanied by a letter of support from Whanau and are subject to available spaces in courses.
All Junior Bilingual students must select the literacy and numeracy modules in the language of their pathway each trimester and one other integrated language module (3 out of 4 of their modules must be bilingual).
All senior Bilingual students must take all modules available in the language of their pathway.
