Taualuga - Samoan

Courses Description

Head of Pathway: Mrs K. Lousi.

The Taualuga is a traditional Samoan dance, considered the top or the highest part of Samoan performance art forms and the centerpiece of the Culture of Samoa. 

You have the option to learn to siva or perform during Ava ceremony. Come and learn the taualuga aspects of Tu ma aga faasamoa. Show the world how proud you are to perform either event.


Pathway

This must be taken with Trimester 1 or 2 Samoan. Students who take and pass Samoan in all 3 trimesters can reach the 14-credit minimum to get a subject endorsement in Samaoan for University entrance. These students will also have the option of sitting Samoan scholarship.

You will be assessed in this course through all or a selection of the standards listed below.

All Junior Bilingual students must select the literacy and numeracy modules in the language of their pathway each trimester and one other integrated language module  (3 out of 4 of their modules must be bilingual).

All senior Bilingual students must take all modules available in the language of their pathway.
