Comms Central: Present - Communication English

Courses Description

Head of Pathway:

Comms central is all about English for the real world. The TV shows you watch, the movies you enjoy, the music videos you have on repeat. We’re talking about all of it in the Kelston Magazine “Kelston Korero”

Pick a topic that you are passionate about. Dissect it. Tell us about it. Get real into it and persuade us about something. Why is Beyoncé the greatest artist ever? Why should everyone watch Avatar: The Last Airbender? You get the chance to tell us all about it.

First you will take your topic and present it as a persuasive speech, convincing us with research, passion, and logic. Next you will take that speech and adapt it into an opinion piece for the Kelston Korero Magazine.

Comms Central is where you explore how to discern re-presentations of life via communications. Real life communication about the things that are important to you.

Taking a full year of Comms Central will not give you a UE approved subject of 14 credits in one subject (because it is a mix of english and media studies) but it will give you UE literacy. This module gives 3 UE writing credits.
