2OUTD2PC

Outdoor Aotearoa - Physical Education and Geography

Courses Description

Head of Pathway: Mr G. Van den Hoeven.

Geography: Students will investigate Kelston Girls College to make a full report regarding the location of outdoor education training areas. The focus will be making the design socially, environmentally, and economically sustainable. A comparison between other schools doing similar designs and a justified recommendation must be presented. Mapping, graphing and report writing will be the focus with the reports submitted to the Board of Trustees for Kelston Girls and the Kelston Community Hub for discussion.

PE: Students will be analysing the application of risk management strategies to a challenging outdoor activity. We will look at physical outdoor activities that students will participate in as part of their assessment. This will challenge them physically and mentally, but also allow for risk management to take place according to the event chosen
