Healthy Auckland - Geography and Physical Education

Courses Description

How do we make a ‘people friendly’ city?

What are cities? Are they healthy in terms of exercise? What could be an ideal healthy Auckland for our future?

We will look into cities and Change in terms of structure, size, infrastructure and the future.. 

The following topics will be studied:

  • Transport and Health
  • Housing and Health
  • Food and exercise in the city

We will explore the ideas of sustainable cities from other case studies globally. Overall recommendations from individual reports will be shared with our community and actions to create the ideal solutions will be started.

Integrated into this learning area students will be given the opportunity to resourcefully find ways to improve the day to day activities of the students at Kelston Girls College.

All Junior Bilingual students must select the literacy and numeracy modules in the language of their pathway each trimester and one other integrated language module  (3 out of 4 of their modules must be bilingual).

All senior Bilingual students must take all modules available in the language of their pathway.
