O la’u Folauga means “My Journey”
If you are interested in self-empowerment and finding out ways that could enhance your identity, then come along with us in this va’a. Let's adventure together for self-discovery searching the loloto (deep) of our heritage and its significant ties to our identity.
In this way, we will be developing Samoan literacy skills by exploring the theme of personal journeys. Through engaging activities and discussions, you'll improve your reading comprehension, writing fluency, and vocabulary while reflecting on your life experiences.
Course Focus:
- Personal Narrative: Learn storytelling techniques in Samoan to share your experiences, challenges, and triumphs.
- Vocabulary Building: Expand your vocabulary related to topics Folauga Topics, such as journeys, life stages, and emotions.
- Cultural Connections: Explore the concept of Fa'a Samoa (the Samoan way) and how it shapes personal journeys.
Reflective Writing: Develop your writing skills by journaling and composing short narratives about your path.

Once a student makes their selections and confirms these, any changes must be accompanied by a letter of support from Whanau and are subject to available spaces in courses.
All Junior Bilingual students must select the literacy and numeracy modules in the language of their pathway each trimester and one other integrated language module (3 out of 4 of their modules must be bilingual).
All senior Bilingual students must take all modules available in the language of their pathway.
